Coach Barte is a 2002 graduate of Grandview Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio where he was a multi-sport athlete. He earned 11 varsity letters in golf, football, wrestling and baseball. As a leader and captain, Coach Barte was named to the All – Ohio team for his senior season in both wrestling and baseball. He was named the conference and central Ohio player of the year during his senior baseball campaign setting school records in wins, ERA and strikeouts. In 2016 Coach Barte was inducted to the Grandview Heights Athletics Hall of Fame for his accomplishments. After his time at Grandview Heights, Coach earned a baseball scholarship to attend Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. Coach was a four-year starter for the Colonels and in 2006, Coach Barte was the NCAA D1 leader in homeruns allowed, allowing 0 the entire season. During the off-season Coach Barte was selected to play for the Lima Locos in the Great Lakes League and the So Cal Fire in nearby Anaheim., California. Following his playing career, Coach graduated from EKU in 2007 with a bachelor’s in mathematics teaching. Upon graduation, Coach Barte started his coaching and teaching career in 2008 at Madison Central High School in Richmond, Kentucky. Coach served as the varsity pitching coach from 2008-2015 under Hall of Fame head coach Steve Roof helping lead the Indians a state tournament birth in 2014. Coach Barte was named the KHSBCA Assistant Coach of the Year in both 2012 and 2014 for his work with the Indians. During the summer Coach Barte served as the head coach for the nationally recognized Elite Baseball Club and the Evoshield Canes. From 2016 – 2022, Coach served as the head varsity baseball coach for the Atherton Rebels and the Fern Creek Tigers in Louisville, Kentucky. During his tenure Coach Barte accumulated a career coaching record of 107-41 including 4 straight 20 + wins seasons including a District championship in 2021. In 2022, Coach Barte led the Fern Creek tigers to a school record of 27 wins which led to him being named the KHSBCA Head Coach of the Year. Coach Barte currently lives in Corona Del Mar with his wife Candace and is in his third-year teaching math and coaching baseball at Corona Del Mar Middle and High School.
